My favorite utilities - This means they have to work and I continually use them to make my computing life easier

 CCleaner website

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)  This increased my laptop boot time from 3 minutes to 45 seconds - Brian

Google Desktop

If you have hundreds or thousands of emails for files stored on your computer, this is a great program.  Every day it archives your system so you can immediately find emails for files from yesterday or 5 years ago.  It uses the same layout as the google search engine but does not connect to the internet or need the internet to function.  - Brian

Firefox internet browser

I would gather about 80% of computer users don't know that there is anything to use other than Internet Explorer.  It is cool to be in the minority on this one because Firefox is awesome.  Just like a store that does business with the customer in mind, Firefox is designed for the user.  I used to thing that lockups and shutdowns were a problem of the internet and not IE; that is until I used Firefox.  Secure, Reliable, with tab functions and extensions galore.

Rotebetasoftware - Helps you figure out where all that hard drive space has gone on your computer.

FileZilla - FileZilla is a fast and reliable FTP client and server with lots of useful features and an intuitive interface

Foxit PDF Reader - Foxit Reader is a free PDF document viewer and printer, with incredible small size (only 2.55 M download size), breezing-fast launch speed and rich feature set.

CPU-Z - CPUID - gathers and displays main device information

GSAK - Geocaching Swiss Army Knife - GSAK is the all in one Geocaching and waypoint management tool. Major features include: Multiple databases, sending/receiving waypoints to GPSr, Google maps, conversion to many mapping formats, PDA output (including CacheMate support), HTML output, extensive searching, macro support, backup and restore, distance/direction from other waypoints (including caches, locations, post codes) and much more.
